Personal social networks as a superdiversity dimension: A qualitative approach with second-generation Americans

The United States of America is a country with long tradition migration in which second- and third-generation Americans have been assimilated into cultural ‘melting pot.’ This multicultural reality highlights the many varied elements superdiversity that make up complex characteristics contemporary society this country. In present study, authors seek to identify some these by viewing them qualitatively through eyes experiences offspring transnational couples migratory background living US. primary data collection consisted 90-minute personal interviews 29 subjects between 15 30 years age who reside state Florida whose parents identified as being from different national origins. results show significant differences interpretations classic definitions nationality identity, highlighting networks dimension be taken account for analysis superdiversity. Implications practice directions future research are discussed.
